Srilankan Tourism is slowly riding the tourism wave hoping for a productive year ahead after the Easter Sunday attacks. Following the Easter Sunday attacks, Srilankan tourism suffered a 75 % decline in the number of tourists. The attack left around 258 people dead including 45 foreigners and several others injured. The Srilankan government has introduced five new tour packages hoping to attract more tourists from India. The initiative is launched in collaboration with Hotels Association of Sri Lanka, Sri Lankan Airlines and other inbound tourists. The packages offer discounts ranging from 30-40 per cent. India was one of the first countries to relax the travel advisory to Srilanka after the attack.
