Hemis National Park

Hemis National Park is a high altitude park located at a height between 3300 and 6000 meters. Founded in 1981, the protected area is famous for its high density of snow leopards. The park holds the title of the largest of its kind in South Asia with an area of 4,400 square kilometers coming under it. You cannot avoid the National park on your Ladakh tour because it provides you the rare opportunity to see endangered species. Apart from almost 200 snow leopards, you can see Great Tibetan Sheep, Blue Sheep, Tibetan Wolf, Eurasian Brown Bear and so on. There are some rare varieties of birds in the region like the Golden Eagle, Lammergeier Vulture, Himalayan Griffon Vulture, Black-winged snow finch, Himalayan snowcock, Robin Accentor and so on.
