The beautifully constructed Kodai Lake is the prominent attraction of Kodaikanal. Today, a top tourist attraction of Kodaikanal, this star-shaped lake was built in 1863 by Sir Vere Henry Levinge, the collector of Madurai. Originally three streams of water were transformed as a Lake with a rich aquatic life. The Lake hosts several interesting activities include cycling, horse riding, and boating and there many beautiful resorts located in and around the Lake. People also enjoy swimming in the Lake, the still and clear water provides the underground view. There is also a boathouse and club next to the lake where tourists can spend their time interestingly. Kodai Lake is the center of Kodai sightseeing. A visit to the town is incomplete without a visit to the Lake.
