A protected area, spreading 391 square kilometers in the Western Ghats, the Parambikulam Tiger Reserve is one of the best places to see Bengal tigers. The beasts roam around freely in the thick forest and the lucky ones will be able to see them on the safari. The ecotourism destination, established in 1973, is home to a variety of flora and fauna. The lush green landscape consists of trees like teak, neem and sandalwood apart from the rare species of plants like Haplothismia Exannulata. The animal population includes elephants, tigers, leopards, gaur, Indian rock python, Travancore tortoise, and 268 species of birds. Tourists can involve in trekking and safari and imbibe the enchanting sights in the region.
