Munnar -The misty mountains

As Easter was about to come and we had an extended weekend so we packed our bags and head towards Munnar – The Scotland of India. It was a lovely summer morning, we started for Munnar at 6 am. It is approx 5-6 hours of a drive for Munnar from Kochi. We stopped on the way for breakfast. Trust me, if you are in Kerala nothing like having hot idlis served with authentic sambhar.

After satisfying our taste buds, we came back to the car and started again. The road was smooth with a lot of hairpin turns. The mountains on one side and the valley on another are the charms of Munnar. This place is said to be the most romantic destination in India and attracts thousands of domestic as well as international tourists. The mesmerizing and enchanting beauty of this place never fails to attract people and is considered to be the heaven of South India.

We stopped on the way to get some great pictures of Chiyapaara and Valara waterfalls. Many local vendors were selling some tempting snacks, being foodies, tasted few things, and then again got into the car to reach our resort.

We were staying in Camellia and reached there by 2 PM. I was stunned by the beauty of this resort and this place. The balcony had a clear view of Nilgiris. The place was surrounded by tea gardens, cardamom gardens, and rubber trees. After, taking a rest for some time and enjoying mouthwatering lunch, we took an ayurvedic head massage. We kept our 1st day relaxed, admired the beauty of this place, and enjoyed the cup of coffee in the sit-out area in between the tea gardens of the resort.

On our second day, after having our breakfast, we covered Top station, Echo Point, Mattupetty dam, photo point Rose Garden and spice garden. These are the best places to visit in Munnar.  We bought homemade chocolate too. Reached our resort by 6 PM. The resort staff was so kind as to set up a candlelight dinner for us. We enjoyed every bit of it and this way we ended our second day.

On the third day, we opted to go to Eravikulam National Park which is the major tourist attraction in Munnar. We took our tickets from the counter of the park and then waited for the bus to pick us. The route to reach the top of the park was breathtaking and cannot be described in words.  The brumous mountains and lush greenery made me believe in the magic of God. We were dropped at a place from where we had to trek for around 1.5 km to reach the extreme top from where one could see the entire Munnar. We were lucky to witness some Thar also. People specially come here to see this wild animal and said to be a major Munnar attraction. The bus again dropped us at the main gate after three hours. We took our car and came to the main town for some shopping like spices. Took a stroll and then head towards our resort. We kept our evening relaxed with no outdoor activities. Enjoyed evening tea with some authentic snacks admiring the different shades of sunset.

Our trip to Munnar came to an end with so many different memories. Do plan your trip and share your experiences with us. I am sure this place will make you fall in love and leave you speechless.

Happy Tripping!
